Ingredients
Scale
Steak and Marinade
- 1 pound sirloin or flank steak, cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Vegetables
- 1 cup mini sweet peppers, cut into 1-inch pieces
Honey Garlic Sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil
Optional Garnishes
- Chopped green onions
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- Marinate the steak: In a bowl, toss the steak cubes with soy sauce, olive oil, cornstarch, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Let it marinate for 10 to 15 minutes to absorb all the flavors while you prepare the sauce.
- Prepare the honey garlic sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, minced garlic, low-sodium soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil until well combined. Set aside.
- Preheat the air fryer: Set your air fryer to preheat at 400°F (200°C) to ensure even cooking of the steak and peppers.
- Air fry the steak and peppers: Arrange the marinated steak cubes and sweet pepper pieces in a single layer inside the air fryer basket. Cook for 8 to 10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to cook evenly. The steak should reach your desired doneness and the peppers should be tender.
- Warm the sauce: While the steak cooks, gently warm the honey garlic sauce in a small saucepan over low heat for 2 to 3 minutes until it slightly thickens and the flavors meld.
- Toss and serve: Once the steak and peppers are cooked, transfer them to a bowl and toss with the warm honey garlic sauce. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired, and serve immediately.
Notes
- For a spicier bite, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the honey garlic sauce.
- You can substitute mini sweet peppers with regular bell peppers if mini peppers are unavailable.
- Serve these bites over steamed rice or noodles for a more complete meal.
