Description

These Apple & Brie Crostini with Hot Honey are an elegant and easy appetizer perfect for gatherings. Crispy baguette slices are topped with melted creamy brie, crisp apple slices, salty prosciutto, and fresh arugula, then drizzled with a warm, sweet, and spicy honey glaze for a delightful flavor contrast.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread

  • 1 French baguette, cut diagonally into 1/2 inch slices

Cheese

  • 8 ounces brie cheese, sliced (enough slices for each crostini)

Toppings

  • 1 large Honeycrisp or Granny Smith apple, thinly sliced
  • 2 ounces prosciutto, cut into 20 pieces and rolled
  • 1 cup arugula

Hot Honey Glaze

  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • ½ teaspoon hot sauce (or substitute with a pinch of cayenne pepper)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Set your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
  2. Arrange baguette slices: Arrange the sliced baguette pieces evenly on the prepared baking sheet, using two sheets if needed to fit all slices.
  3. Add brie cheese: Place a slice of brie cheese on top of each baguette slice, preparing them for baking.
  4. Bake crostini: Bake in the preheated oven for 7-9 minutes or until the brie is nicely melted and bubbly.
  5. Add apple and prosciutto: Once out of the oven, immediately top each crostini with a thin slice of apple and a rolled piece of prosciutto to add flavor and texture.
  6. Add arugula: Place a few fresh arugula leaves on top for a peppery crunch and freshness.
  7. Prepare hot honey glaze: In a small bowl, combine honey and hot sauce (or cayenne pepper). Microwave for 10-15 seconds until warm, then stir well to blend the flavors.
  8. Drizzle hot honey: Drizzle the warm hot honey over the assembled crostini just before serving to add a sweet and spicy glaze.
  9. Serve immediately: Serve the crostini right away to enjoy the contrast of warm melted brie with fresh toppings and delicious glaze.

Notes

  • Use either Honeycrisp or Granny Smith apples for a sweet-tart flavor that balances the richness of the brie.
  • Adjust the hot sauce or cayenne to make the glaze as spicy as you like.
  • For easier slicing, chill the brie slightly before slicing.
  • Prosciutto can be substituted with thinly sliced smoked ham or pancetta if preferred.
  • Serve crostini immediately after assembling to maintain crispness and freshness.
