Description

These Baked Ham & Cheese Rolls with Honey Mustard Glaze are delightful savory snacks perfect for any occasion. Made with refrigerated pizza dough rolled with sliced ham and mozzarella or Swiss cheese, then brushed with a sweet and tangy honey mustard glaze, they bake to golden perfection. Easy to prepare and sure to impress, these rolls are ideal for brunch, parties, or a comforting appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough and Filling

  • 1 sheet (16 oz / 450g) refrigerated pizza dough or crescent roll sheet
  • ½ lb sliced ham
  • 1½ cups (170g) shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese

Honey Mustard Glaze

  • ¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

Optional Garnish

  • Poppy seeds or dried parsley, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Baking Dish: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish to prevent sticking and prepare it for the rolls.
  2. Roll Out Dough: On a floured surface, roll out the refrigerated pizza dough into a large rectangle to create a base for the ham and cheese layers.
  3. Add Filling: Evenly layer the sliced ham over the dough, then sprinkle the shredded mozzarella or Swiss cheese on top, leaving a small border around the edges.
  4. Roll and Slice: Starting from the long edge, carefully roll the dough into a log. Slice the rolled log into 10 to 12 even pieces to form individual rolls.
  5. Arrange Rolls: Place the rolls cut side up into the prepared baking dish, spacing them evenly for consistent baking.
  6. Prepare and Apply Glaze: In a bowl, combine the melted butter, honey, Dijon mustard, yellow mustard, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Brush this honey mustard glaze generously over the tops of the rolls. Optionally, sprinkle poppy seeds or dried parsley on top for garnish.
  7. Bake: Bake the rolls in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes or until they are golden brown and bubbly, indicating the cheese has melted perfectly.
  8. Cool and Serve: Allow the rolls to cool for about 5 minutes before serving, so they set slightly and are easier to handle.

Notes

  • You can substitute Swiss cheese with mozzarella or any cheese of your preference.
  • For an extra kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the glaze.
  • The rolls can be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated for a few hours before baking.
  • Reheat leftovers in a warm oven to maintain crispness of the crust.
  • Use crescent roll dough for a flakier texture; pizza dough yields a chewier roll.
