Description

A delightful and easy-to-make Banana Split Dump Cake combining ripe bananas, juicy pineapple, and fresh strawberries layered with a buttery cake mix base, baked to golden perfection and topped with whipped cream, nuts, and optional chocolate drizzle for a nostalgic dessert everyone will love.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruit Layer

  • 4 medium ripe bananas, sliced
  • 1 (20 oz) can crushed pineapple, drained
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced

Cake Layer

  • 1 box yellow or white cake mix
  • ½ cup (1 stick) unsalted butter, melted

Toppings

  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream (or 1 tub whipped topping)
  • 1–2 bananas, sliced
  • ½ cup fresh strawberries, halved or sliced
  • ½ cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • Optional: chocolate syrup or melted chocolate

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Dish: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Layer the Fruit: Evenly spread the sliced bananas on the bottom of the baking dish, then layer on the drained crushed pineapple and sliced fresh strawberries.
  3. Add Cake Mix: Sprinkle the dry yellow or white cake mix evenly over the fruit layer, ensuring an even distribution.
  4. Pour Melted Butter: Drizzle the melted unsalted butter over the cake mix layer, covering as much surface area as possible to moisten the cake mix thoroughly.
  5. Bake: Bake uncovered in the preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes until the top is golden brown and bubbly around the edges.
  6. Cool and Add Toppings: Let the cake cool slightly after baking, then top generously with whipped cream or whipped topping, additional sliced bananas, strawberries, chopped nuts, and an optional drizzle of chocolate syrup or melted chocolate for extra flavor.

Notes

  • For a lighter topping, substitute whipped cream with whipped topping of choice.
  • Make sure to drain the canned pineapple well to avoid excess moisture in the cake.
  • You can use either yellow or white cake mix based on preference; both work well.
  • Chopped walnuts or pecans add a delightful crunch and complement the fruit flavors nicely.
  • Serve the dump cake warm or at room temperature for best flavor.
  • Optional chocolate drizzle can be warmed chocolate chips or chocolate syrup as per availability.
