Description

Delight in these easy-to-make Blueberry Cream Cheese Puff Pastries, featuring flaky puff pastry pockets filled with sweet cream cheese and fresh blueberries. Perfect as a breakfast treat or an elegant dessert, these pastries are golden, crisp, and bursting with flavor in just 35 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale

Puff Pastry and Toppings

  • 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp sugar (for sprinkling)

Cream Cheese Filling

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup fresh blueberries

Instructions

  1. Preheat and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier.
  2. Make Cream Cheese Filling: In a small bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Mix until the filling is smooth and creamy.
  3. Prepare Puff Pastry: Lightly flour a clean surface and roll out the thawed puff pastry sheet. Cut it into 4 equal squares to form each pastry pocket.
  4. Assemble Pastries: Place about one tablespoon of the cream cheese filling in the center of each puff pastry square. Top the filling with a few fresh blueberries.
  5. Seal Pastries: Fold the corners of each square inward towards the center to create a pocket. Press the edges firmly to seal the filling inside and prevent leakage while baking.
  6. Apply Egg Wash and Sugar: Beat the egg and brush it over the surface of each pastry to give them a beautiful golden finish. Sprinkle each pastry lightly with sugar for added sweetness and a slight crunch.
  7. Bake: Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20–25 minutes, or until the pastries have puffed up and turned golden brown.
  8. Cool and Serve: Allow the pastries to cool slightly on a wire rack before serving to let the filling set and to avoid burns.

Notes

  • Ensure the puff pastry remains cold before baking to help achieve better puffiness.
  • You can substitute blueberries with other fresh berries like raspberries or sliced strawberries.
  • For a vegan version, use vegan cream cheese and an egg substitute for the wash.
  • These pastries are best served fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for 1 day.
