Description

Cheese Dreams is a quick and comforting grilled cheese sandwich made with your choice of bread and melty cheddar cheese, perfectly golden and buttery on the outside with gooey cheese inside. Ready in just 13 minutes, this classic snack or light meal is easy to prepare on the stovetop and customizable with optional garlic powder or herbs for extra flavor.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread and Cheese

  • 4 slices of bread (white or whole wheat)
  • 4 slices of cheddar cheese (or your favorite melting cheese)

Butter and Seasoning

  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • Optional: garlic powder or herbs for extra flavor

Instructions

  1. Preheat skillet: Preheat a skillet over medium heat to ensure even cooking and perfect browning of your sandwich.
  2. Butter bread: Butter one side of each bread slice evenly with softened unsalted butter, which will create a crisp, golden exterior when cooked.
  3. Assemble sandwich, first side down: Place one slice of bread, buttered side down, onto the preheated skillet.
  4. Add cheese layers: Add two slices of cheddar cheese on top of the bread in the skillet. Optionally sprinkle some garlic powder or herbs now if using for added flavor.
  5. Top sandwich: Cover with the second slice of bread, buttered side up, completing the sandwich.
  6. Cook first side: Cook until the bread is golden brown and the cheese starts to melt, about 3 to 4 minutes. Keep the heat moderate to allow the cheese to melt without burning the bread.
  7. Flip and cook second side: Carefully flip the sandwich using a spatula. Cook the other side until golden brown and the cheese is fully melted, approximately another 3 to 4 minutes.
  8. Serve: Remove the sandwich from the skillet, slice it as desired, and serve immediately for best gooey texture and warm flavor.

Notes

  • Use white or whole wheat bread according to your preference.
  • For additional flavor, sprinkle garlic powder or fresh/dried herbs on the cheese before closing the sandwich.
  • Use a non-stick skillet or a well-seasoned pan to prevent sticking.
  • Control the heat to medium to ensure bread renders golden and cheese melts thoroughly without burning.
  • Serve hot for the best melted cheese experience.
