Ingredients
Scale
For the Shrimp
- 12 large shrimp, peeled and deveined
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For the Cheese Topping
- 1/2 cup grated mozzarella cheese
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
For the Toast
- 4 slices of French bread or any thick-cut bread
- 2 tbsp butter, softened
- 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley (for garnish)
Instructions
- Cook the Shrimp: Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat to warm it up for sautéing the shrimp.
- Sauté Garlic: Add the minced garlic to the hot skillet and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant, releasing its aroma.
- Cook Shrimp: Add the shrimp to the skillet, season with salt and pepper, and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side or until they turn pink and opaque. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Prepare the Bread: Preheat your oven broiler to get ready for toasting the bread slices.
- Butter the Bread: Spread the softened butter evenly on both sides of each bread slice for a rich flavor and crisp texture.
- Toast the Bread: Place the bread slices on a baking sheet and toast them under the broiler for 1-2 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy.
- Assemble the Shrimp Toast: Place the cooked shrimp evenly atop each toasted bread slice.
- Add Cheese: Sprinkle grated mozzarella and Parmesan cheese evenly over the shrimp on each piece of toast.
- Broil the Toast: Return the baking sheet to the oven and broil the toasts for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts, bubbles, and slightly browns.
- Garnish: Remove the shrimp toasts from the oven and sprinkle chopped fresh parsley over them for a fresh finish.
- Serve: Serve immediately while warm to enjoy the cheesy, garlicky shrimp on crispy bread.
Notes
- Use fresh shrimp for the best flavor but frozen shrimp can be substituted if thawed properly.
- Adjust garlic quantity based on your preference for more or less pungency.
- French bread can be swapped for ciabatta or sourdough for different textures.
- Keep an eye on the bread under the broiler to prevent burning as broilers can be very hot.
- For a spicier version, sprinkle a pinch of red pepper flakes on the shrimp before adding cheese.
- Leftovers can be refrigerated and reheated in a toaster oven but are best enjoyed fresh.
