Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Pudding Layer
- 1 box (3.9 oz) chocolate instant pudding mix
- 2 cups cold milk
Cheesecake Layer
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tub (8 oz) whipped topping, thawed (half for folding into cheesecake mixture, half for topping)
Additional Layers
- 1 package (14 oz) chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos), crushed
- 1 cup chocolate cake or brownies, crumbled
- Chocolate syrup or chocolate ganache, for drizzle
Instructions
- Prepare Chocolate Pudding: In a bowl, whisk together the chocolate pudding mix and cold milk until smooth and thick. Set aside to let it partially set.
- Make Cheesecake Mixture: In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add powdered sugar and vanilla extract, mixing thoroughly until creamy. Gently fold in half of the whipped topping to create a light, fluffy cheesecake layer.
- Layer the Trifle: Using a trifle dish or individual cups, layer the ingredients in the following order: first, a layer of crumbled chocolate cake or brownies; next, a layer of the cheesecake mixture; then, a layer of crushed chocolate sandwich cookies; followed by a layer of chocolate pudding. Repeat the layers until the dish is filled, making sure to end with a layer of whipped topping on top.
- Top and Drizzle: Finish with a final dollop of the remaining whipped topping, some additional crushed cookies, and a generous drizzle of chocolate syrup or ganache to enhance the chocolate flavor and presentation.
- Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the assembled trifle for at least 1 hour to allow all layers to set and flavors to meld. Serve chilled for a refreshing, decadent dessert.
Notes
- Ensure the cream cheese is fully softened to avoid lumps in the cheesecake layer.
- Use fresh cold milk to help the pudding set properly and achieve the best texture.
- You can prepare the trifle a day ahead and refrigerate overnight to enhance the flavor blend.
- For added texture, consider adding a sprinkle of chopped nuts in layers if desired.
- Use quality chocolate syrup or homemade chocolate ganache for a richer chocolate drizzle.
