Description

This Chocolate Peppermint Lasagna is a festive, no-bake dessert layered with a chocolate cookie crust, creamy peppermint and chocolate pudding layers, topped with whipped topping and peppermint candies. Perfect for holiday gatherings, it combines rich chocolate and refreshing peppermint flavors in a fun and easy-to-make treat.

Ingredients

Scale

Crust

  • 36 chocolate sandwich cookies (like Oreos), finely crushed
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk
  • 8 ounces whipped topping (like Cool Whip), divided

Chocolate Pudding Layer

  • 1 (3.9 oz) package instant chocolate pudding mix
  • 2 cups cold milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract

Toppings

  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup crushed peppermint candies or candy canes
  • Additional whipped topping and peppermint pieces for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Crust: In a medium bowl, combine the finely crushed chocolate sandwich cookies with the melted butter until evenly mixed. Press the mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch dish to form an even crust layer.
  2. Make the Cream Cheese Layer: In another bowl, beat the softened cream cheese, granulated sugar, and 2 tablespoons of milk until smooth and creamy. Gently fold in half of the whipped topping to lighten the mixture, then spread it evenly over the prepared crust.
  3. Prepare Chocolate Pudding Layer: In a separate bowl, whisk together the instant chocolate pudding mix and 2 cups cold milk until the mixture thickens, about 2 minutes. Stir in the peppermint extract for a refreshing flavor. Spread this pudding layer over the cream cheese layer evenly.
  4. Add Whipped Topping and Garnishes: Top the pudding layer with the remaining whipped topping, smoothing the surface. Sprinkle mini chocolate chips and crushed peppermint candies evenly on top for added texture and festive appeal.
  5. Chill and Serve: Cover the lasagna dish and refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until fully set. Just before serving, garnish with extra whipped topping and peppermint pieces if desired for a beautiful presentation.

Notes

  • For a stronger mint flavor, increase the peppermint extract slightly or use peppermint-flavored sandwich cookies for the crust.
  • This dessert can be prepared a day in advance and kept refrigerated until serving, making it ideal for holiday planning.
