Description

A hearty and comforting Chopped Cheeseburger Biscuit Bake that layers flaky biscuits with seasoned ground beef and melted cheddar cheese, baked to golden perfection. Perfect for a family-friendly dinner or a casual gathering with a nostalgic twist on classic cheeseburgers.

Ingredients

Scale

Biscuits

  • 1 (16 oz) can Grands! flaky biscuits (8 count)

Filling

  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 1½ cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Optional Toppings

  • Ketchup
  • Mustard
  • Pickles

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish to prepare for the bake.
  2. Cook Beef: In a skillet over medium heat, sauté the diced onion and ground beef until the beef is fully cooked and browned. Drain off any excess fat, then season the mixture with salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Layer Biscuits: Split each biscuit in half horizontally to create 16 layers. Arrange half of these biscuit halves evenly on the bottom of the prepared baking dish to form the base layer.
  4. Build the Bake: Spread the cooked ground beef and onion mixture evenly over the biscuit layer. Then sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese uniformly on top of the beef.
  5. Top It Off: Place the remaining biscuit halves over the cheese, forming the top layer.
  6. Bake: Bake the assembled dish uncovered in the preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and fully cooked through.
  7. Serve: Allow the bake to rest for 5 minutes after removing from the oven. Optionally, add toppings like ketchup, mustard, or pickles before serving to enhance the cheeseburger flavors.

Notes

  • Draining the fat from the cooked beef helps reduce greasiness in the dish.
  • You can substitute cheddar cheese with your favorite cheese like mozzarella or pepper jack for a different flavor profile.
  • Allowing the bake to rest before serving lets the layers set, making it easier to cut and serve.
  • Optional toppings such as ketchup, mustard, and pickles add classic cheeseburger flavors but can be omitted for a simpler dish.
  • Ensure biscuits are split evenly to create uniform layering and even baking.
