Ingredients
Scale
Produce
- 6 tomatillos, husked and rinsed
- 1 jalapeño (optional, for extra spice)
- 2 ripe avocados
- A handful of fresh cilantro
- 1/4 white onion
- Juice of 2 limes
Dairy & Condiments
- 1/2 cup crema mexicana (or sour cream)
Spices & Seasonings
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon chicken bouillon (or veggie bouillon)
- 1 tablespoon salt (or to taste)
Instructions
- Boil the Tomatillos and Jalapeño: Place the husked and rinsed tomatillos and jalapeño (if using) in a small pot and cover them with water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat and cook for about 10 minutes until the tomatillos soften and change color, indicating they are ready to blend.
- Prepare the Blender Ingredients: While the tomatillos and jalapeño are boiling, gather the ripe avocados, fresh cilantro, crema mexicana or sour cream, minced garlic, chicken bouillon, salt, lime juice, and quartered white onion for blending.
- Combine Ingredients in Blender: Add the boiled tomatillos and jalapeño to the blender, along with the avocados, cilantro, crema, garlic, bouillon, salt, lime juice, and onion. Pour in about one cup of the hot water from the pot used to boil the tomatillos to help achieve a smooth and creamy consistency.
- Blend Until Smooth: Blend all the ingredients on high speed until the salsa is smooth and creamy. Pause to scrape down the sides if necessary. Taste the salsa and adjust seasoning with additional salt or lime juice as preferred.
- Serve and Enjoy: Transfer the salsa to a serving bowl. Use it to top tacos, enchiladas, grilled meats, or serve as a creamy dip with crispy tortilla chips for a fresh, zesty flavor experience.

- You can substitute chicken bouillon with veggie bouillon for a vegetarian option.
- Adjust salt and lime juice to your taste preferences.
- Use crema mexicana for authentic flavor or sour cream as a substitute.
