Ingredients
Scale
Cinnamon Roll Mixture
- 2 cans of cinnamon rolls, quartered
- 1 can of apple pie filling
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
Topping
- Cinnamon roll icing (from the cans of cinnamon rolls)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ingredients: Quarter the cinnamon rolls by cutting each roll into four pieces and place them in a large mixing bowl. Add the apple pie filling and the chopped walnuts or pecans to the bowl.
- Mix the Filling: Gently combine the quartered cinnamon rolls, apple pie filling, and nuts, ensuring that the mixture is evenly distributed without breaking up the cinnamon rolls too much.
- Prepare the Baking Dish: Lightly spray a 9×13-inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Assemble the Bake: Pour the cinnamon roll mixture into the prepared baking dish and spread it out evenly to create a uniform layer.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in a preheated oven set at 350°F (175°C). Bake for approximately 45 minutes, or until the cinnamon rolls have turned golden brown and are cooked through.
- Add the Icing: Remove the dish from the oven and while the bake is still warm, drizzle the cinnamon roll icing over the top creatively to add sweetness and a finished look.
- Cool and Serve: Allow the apple bake to cool for a few minutes before serving. This dessert is best enjoyed warm.
Notes
- You can substitute walnuts with pecans or any other nuts you prefer.
- For a gluten-free version, choose gluten-free cinnamon rolls and pie filling.
- If you like extra apple flavor, add a sprinkle of cinnamon or a dash of nutmeg to the mixture before baking.
- Letting the bake cool slightly helps the flavors meld together and makes serving easier.
- This dish can be reheated gently in the oven or microwave for leftovers.
