Description

Crispy Bang Bang Salmon Bites are golden-fried, tender chunks of salmon coated in flavorful spices and panko breadcrumbs, served with a zesty and creamy bang bang sauce that combines sweet chili, sriracha, honey, and lime. Perfect as an appetizer or snack, these bites offer a delightful crunch with a spicy-sweet finish.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon and Coating

  • 1 pound skinless salmon fillets, cut into bite-sized cubes
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups panko breadcrumbs
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Bang Bang Sauce

  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon sriracha sauce
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • Chopped fresh cilantro, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon: Rinse the salmon fillets under cold water and pat dry with paper towels. Cut the salmon into bite-sized cubes and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Coating: In a shallow dish, mix the flour, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. In a separate bowl, beat the eggs. In another shallow dish, place the panko breadcrumbs.
  3. Coat the Salmon: Dredge each salmon piece in the flour mixture, making sure to coat all sides. Dip the floured salmon into the beaten eggs, allowing any excess to drip off. Finally, coat the salmon in the panko breadcrumbs, pressing gently to adhere. Repeat the process for all salmon pieces.
  4. Fry the Salmon Bites: In a large skillet, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, carefully add the coated salmon bites in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry each side for 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Remove the salmon bites with a slotted spoon and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
  5. Prepare the Bang Bang Sauce: In a mixing bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, sweet chili sauce, sriracha sauce, honey, and lime juice until smooth.
  6. Assemble and Serve: Transfer the crispy salmon bites to a serving platter. Drizzle the bang bang sauce over the top or serve it on the side for dipping. Garnish with chopped fresh cilantro and lime wedges if desired.

Notes

  • Ensure the oil is hot enough (around 350°F or 175°C) before frying to achieve a crispy exterior.
  • Do not overcrowd the pan while frying to maintain oil temperature and crispiness.
  • You can prepare the coating stations ahead of time for quicker assembly.
  • This recipe works well as a party appetizer or snack.
  • Leftover bites can be reheated in a skillet or air fryer to retain crispiness.
