Ingredients
Scale
Rice
- 1 cup uncooked white jasmine rice
Beef Bowl
- 1 pound lean ground beef
- 1 tablespoon packed brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons hoisin sauce
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sriracha sauce
- 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
Garnish (optional)
- Scallions
- Sesame seeds
Instructions
- Cook the rice: Prepare the jasmine rice according to the package directions, ensuring it becomes fluffy and tender, which serves as the perfect base for the beef bowl.
- Cook the beef: In a skillet over medium-high heat, add the lean ground beef. Break it up with a spoon and cook until fully browned, about 8 to 10 minutes. Drain any excess fat if necessary.
- Add the sauces: Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the brown sugar, hoisin sauce, soy sauce, sriracha sauce, grated ginger, and minced garlic until the beef is well coated.
- Sauté the peppers: Reduce heat to medium and return the skillet to the stove. Add chopped red bell pepper and cook for a few minutes, stirring often, until the peppers become tender-crisp.
- Assemble and serve: Spoon the beef mixture over the cooked rice. Garnish with scallions and sesame seeds as desired for extra flavor and crunch.
Notes
- You can substitute white jasmine rice with brown rice or cauliflower rice for a healthier option.
- If you prefer less heat, reduce or omit the sriracha sauce.
- Ground turkey or chicken can be used instead of beef for variation.
- Use low-sodium soy sauce to reduce sodium content.
- Adding fresh vegetables like broccoli or snap peas can increase the nutritional value.
