Description

A delicious and easy-to-make side dish featuring crispy baked shoestring fries tossed in a flavorful garlic butter sauce with Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley for a savory, satisfying snack or accompaniment.

Ingredients

Scale

Fries

  • 16 ounces frozen shoestring fries (1 bag, or homemade)

Garlic Parmesan Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (¼ stick)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • ¼ teaspoon garlic salt
  • â…› teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 pinch ground cayenne pepper
  • ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese (divided)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh minced parsley

Instructions

  1. Bake the fries: Preheat your oven and bake the fries following the package instructions until they are crispy and golden brown. This usually takes about 25-30 minutes.
  2. Prepare the garlic butter: While the fries are baking, melt the butter in a medium saucepan over low heat. Add the minced garlic to the melted butter.
  3. Toast the garlic and melt cheese: Allow the butter to gently simmer and cook the garlic until it is slightly toasted, about 90 seconds. Then stir in garlic salt, black pepper, cayenne pepper, and 2 tablespoons of the Parmesan cheese. Heat just until the cheese melts, combining all the flavors well.
  4. Toss fries with sauce: When the fries are crisp and done baking, remove them from the oven. Pour the garlic butter mixture over the fries and toss thoroughly to evenly coat each fry.
  5. Garnish and serve: Transfer the coated fries to a serving platter. Sprinkle the remaining Parmesan cheese and fresh minced parsley on top. Serve immediately while warm and enjoy.

Notes

  • You can use homemade shoestring fries if preferred; just make sure they are cut thinly for best crispness.
  • Adjust cayenne pepper quantity if you prefer less or more heat.
  • For a richer flavor, consider using freshly grated Parmesan cheese rather than pre-grated.
  • Serve these fries as a side dish or a tasty snack with your favorite dipping sauce.
  • Leftovers can be reheated in the oven to maintain crispiness.
