Description

This German Chocolate Fudge recipe layers rich semi-sweet chocolate fudge, creamy milk chocolate, and a decadent coconut pecan topping. Perfectly balanced between sweet and nutty flavors, this no-bake treat is chilled to set and makes an irresistible dessert or snack for chocolate lovers.

Ingredients

Scale

Fudge Layer

  • 3 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 cup butter

Chocolate Layer

  • 1 cup milk chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract

Coconut Pecan Topping

  • 1/2 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 large egg yolk, beaten
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup sweetened shredded coconut
  • 3/4 cup chopped pecans

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fudge Layer: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semi-sweet chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until the mixture is smooth and fully melted. Pour the fudge mixture into a parchment-lined 8×8-inch pan, spreading it evenly. Place it in the refrigerator to set while preparing the next layer.
  2. Make the Chocolate Layer: In a separate microwave-safe bowl, combine the milk chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract. Microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring between each interval until smooth and melted. Pour this layer over the set fudge layer in the pan, spreading evenly. Return the pan to the refrigerator to chill and set.
  3. Prepare the Coconut Pecan Topping: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine evaporated milk, granulated sugar, butter, and the beaten egg yolk. Stir constantly and cook the mixture for about 5-7 minutes, until it thickens. Remove the pan from heat and stir in vanilla extract, shredded coconut, and chopped pecans. Let the topping cool slightly to thicken further.
  4. Assemble the Fudge: Spread the cooled coconut pecan topping evenly over the set chocolate layer in the pan. Refrigerate the entire fudge for at least 2 hours, or until fully set and firm.
  5. Serve: Once the fudge is firm, lift it out of the pan using the parchment paper edges. Cut into 16 equal squares and serve immediately. Enjoy your decadent German Chocolate Fudge!

Notes

  • Be sure to use parchment paper to line your pan for easy removal of fudge.
  • Microwave times may vary; stir frequently to prevent burning.
  • Make sure to cook the coconut pecan topping thoroughly to properly thicken it and ensure the egg yolk is fully cooked.
  • Store fudge in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • Can be served chilled or at room temperature depending on preference.
