Description

Delicious and easy Maple BBQ Hasselback Kielbasa Bites featuring flavorful slices of kielbasa sausage glazed with a sweet and tangy maple BBQ sauce. Baked to perfection with crispy edges and infused with smoky spices, these bites make the perfect appetizer or snack for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale

Meat

  • 1 lb kielbasa sausage

Glaze

  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup BBQ sauce
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

Garnish

  • Fresh parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ensure easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare Kielbasa Slices: Slice the kielbasa into 1-inch thick rounds. Then make several shallow cuts across each slice in the Hasselback style, being careful not to cut all the way through to keep the slices intact.
  3. Mix Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, BBQ sauce, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper until the mixture is smooth and well combined.
  4. Glaze Kielbasa: Arrange the kielbasa slices on the prepared baking sheet and generously brush them with the maple BBQ glaze. Be sure to get some glaze into the cuts on each slice for maximum flavor.
  5. Bake and Baste: Bake the kielbasa for 15-20 minutes until heated through and edges become slightly crispy. Halfway through baking, baste the slices again with more glaze to enhance the flavor and keep them moist.
  6. Serve: Remove from the oven, optionally garnish with fresh parsley, and serve the maple BBQ hasselback kielbasa bites warm as a tasty appetizer or snack.

Notes

  • You can adjust the thickness of the kielbasa slices to your preference, but thinner slices will crisp up more.
  • If you prefer a spicier kick, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the glaze mixture.
  • To make cleanup easier, line your baking sheet with foil or parchment paper as recommended.
  • These bites can also be made ahead and reheated in the oven at 350°F for 5-7 minutes before serving.
  • For a gluten-free version, ensure the BBQ sauce used is gluten-free.
