Description

These Mini Meatball Puff Pastries are a delightful and easy-to-make appetizer featuring tender, fully cooked meatballs wrapped in flaky puff pastry, topped with cheese and Italian seasonings. Perfect for parties or casual gatherings, they bake up golden and puffed, served with warm marinara sauce for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale

Ingredients

  • 1 box frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 24 fully cooked mini meatballs
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce, plus more for serving
  • 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare Puff Pastry: Slightly roll out the thawed puff pastry sheets to smooth them, then cut each sheet into 12 equal squares. Arrange the squares evenly on the prepared baking sheet.
  3. Assemble Pastries: Spoon a small amount of marinara sauce into the center of each pastry square. Place one mini meatball on top of the sauce, then add a pinch of shredded mozzarella or provolone cheese.
  4. Seal Pastries: Gently bring up the corners of each puff pastry square around the meatball, pinching the edges together to seal the contents inside securely.
  5. Apply Egg Wash and Season: Brush the top of each sealed pastry with the beaten egg to encourage a golden, glossy finish. If desired, sprinkle each pastry with grated Parmesan cheese and Italian seasoning for added flavor.
  6. Bake: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 15 to 18 minutes, or until the pastries are golden brown and puffed up.
  7. Cool and Serve: Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly on the baking sheet. Serve warm with extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • You can use beef, turkey, or chicken meatballs depending on your preference.
  • For a spicy twist, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the marinara sauce or use a spicy marinara variety.
  • Ensure the puff pastry is thawed before assembly for easier handling.
  • These pastries can be prepared in advance and baked just before serving to save time.
