Description

Mississippi Sin Dip is a rich, creamy, and cheesy hot dip served in a hollowed-out French bread loaf, perfect for parties and gatherings. Bursting with flavors from cream cheese, sour cream, cheddar, ham, and a blend of spices, this classic American appetizer is baked to bubbly perfection and served warm with bread pieces, crackers, or vegetables.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread Bowl

  • 1 loaf French bread unsliced

Dip Filling

  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 1 1⁄2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup diced cooked ham
  • 1⁄4 cup sliced green onions
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce
  • 1⁄2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare for baking the dip to a hot, bubbly finish.
  2. Prepare Bread Bowl: Slice the top off the French bread loaf and carefully hollow out the center, leaving enough bread along the sides to maintain a sturdy bowl that will hold the dip.
  3. Make the Dip Mix: In a large bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, sour cream, shredded cheddar cheese, diced cooked ham, sliced green onions, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, hot sauce, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until smooth and well blended for an even flavor.
  4. Fill the Bread Bowl: Spoon the creamy dip mixture into the hollowed-out bread loaf, filling it evenly.
  5. Assemble and Bake: Place the filled bread loaf on a baking sheet and replace the sliced top back onto the loaf. Bake in the preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes, or until the dip is heated through and bubbling.
  6. Serve Warm: Remove from oven and serve immediately while warm. Use the reserved bread pieces, crackers, or fresh vegetables for dipping.

Notes

  • You can substitute bacon for ham or use a mix of both for varied flavor.
  • Add diced jalapeños if you desire extra heat and spice.
  • If preferred, bake the dip in a casserole dish instead of a bread bowl for easier serving.
