Description

Deliciously sweet and crunchy Oreo Rice Krispie Treats combining classic Rice Krispies cereal with chopped Oreo cookies, coated in a smooth melted marshmallow and butter mixture. Perfect for a quick and easy dessert or snack that kids and adults will love.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 9 cups mini marshmallows (divided)
  • 5 cups Krispie cereal
  • 16 Oreo cookies, chopped
  • 5 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan: Generously butter a 9-inch square pan for thicker treats or a 9×13-inch pan for thinner treats and set it aside.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the Rice Krispies cereal, chopped Oreos, and 1 cup of mini marshmallows, mixing well to distribute the pieces evenly.
  3. Melt Butter and Marshmallows: In a large pot over medium heat, melt the butter, then stir in the salt and the remaining 8 cups of mini marshmallows. Stir constantly until the marshmallows are completely melted and smooth.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Pour the melted marshmallow mixture over the Rice Krispies and Oreos mixture. Gently stir to evenly coat the cereal and cookie pieces with the marshmallow mixture.
  5. Press into Pan: Transfer the combined mixture into the prepared pan and gently press down to flatten the top into an even layer.
  6. Cool and Serve: Let the treats cool in the pan for about 30 minutes until set. Once firm, slice into 12 pieces and serve.

Notes

  • For thicker treats, use a 9-inch square pan; for thinner treats, use a 9×13-inch pan.
  • Press the mixture gently into the pan to avoid packing it too tightly, which can make the treats too dense.
  • Store treats in an airtight container to keep them fresh and chewy.
  • Can be customized by adding nuts or different cookies for variation.
