Description

This Raspberry Fudge Brownie Trifle is a decadent layered dessert featuring moist brownies, rich chocolate fudge sauce, fresh raspberries, and fluffy whipped cream. Perfectly combining fudgy chocolate with tart berries, it’s a show-stopping treat that’s easy to assemble and ideal for special occasions or gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale

Brownies

  • 1 box of brownie mix (or your favorite homemade brownie recipe)
  • Eggs, oil, and water (according to brownie mix instructions)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (optional, for extra fudginess)

Fudge Layer

  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter

Raspberry Layer

  • 1 ½ cups fresh raspberries (or more for garnish)
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (optional, for sweetening the raspberries)

Whipped Cream

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Brownies: Preheat your oven according to the directions on your brownie mix. Prepare the brownies as directed on the box or your homemade recipe. If using chocolate chips for extra fudginess, fold them into the brownie batter before baking. Bake as per instructions, then allow the brownies to cool completely.
  2. Make the Fudge Layer: In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat just until it begins to simmer. Remove from heat and stir in the semi-sweet chocolate chips and unsalted butter until the mixture is smooth and glossy. Let the fudge cool to room temperature.
  3. Prepare the Raspberry Layer: In a small bowl, gently toss fresh raspberries with powdered sugar if you wish to sweeten them. Set aside to let the flavors meld.
  4. Whip the Cream: In a large mixing bowl, whip the heavy cream with powdered sugar and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form, being careful not to overwhip.
  5. Assemble the Trifle: Cut the cooled brownies into bite-sized cubes. In a large trifle dish or individual serving cups, layer the brownies, fudge sauce, sweetened raspberries, and whipped cream. Begin with brownies, then fudge, then raspberries, and top with whipped cream. Repeat layers until the dish is full, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.
  6. Chill and Serve: Refrigerate the trifle for at least 2 hours or overnight to allow the flavors to come together. Just before serving, garnish with extra fresh raspberries and chocolate shavings if desired.

Notes

  • Make sure brownies are completely cooled before layering to prevent melting the whipped cream and fudge.
  • The fudge sauce can be made ahead and refrigerated, gently warmed before layering if it firms up too much.
  • Adjust the amount of powdered sugar on raspberries according to your desired tartness or sweetness.
  • For added texture, sprinkle chopped nuts between layers if desired.
  • Use fresh, ripe raspberries for best flavor.
