Ingredients
Scale
Chocolate Base
- 12 ounces baking chocolate chips or almond bark
Decorations
- 48 itty bitty pretzels
- 48 candy eyes
- 48 brown mini M&Ms (regular M&Ms can be used)
- 24 red M&Ms
- Holiday sprinkles (optional)
Instructions
- Melt the Chocolate: Break up or chop the baking chocolate and microwave it in 30-second intervals. Stir thoroughly after each interval until the chocolate is fully melted, smooth, and free of lumps, taking care not to burn it.
- Prepare Baking Sheets: Line two baking sheets with parchment paper to prevent sticking and to make removing the bark easier once set.
- Create Chocolate Circles: Spoon about 1 tablespoon (0.5 oz.) of melted chocolate onto the parchment paper. Use the back of the spoon to swirl the chocolate into approximately 2-inch diameter circles. Ensure they are not too thin so they can hold decorations well.
- Add Pretzel Antlers: Place two itty bitty pretzels at the top of each chocolate circle to represent the reindeer’s antlers.
- Place Candy Eyes: Position two candy eyes near the center of each chocolate circle to form the reindeer’s eyes.
- Attach Brown Mini M&Ms Ears: Stand two brown mini M&Ms upright on either side of the antlers to create the ears.
- Add Red M&M Nose: Place a single red M&M right below the eyes to serve as the reindeer’s signature nose.
- Decorate with Sprinkles (Optional): Sprinkle holiday-themed sprinkles over the chocolate circles if desired to add extra festive flair.
- Chill to Set: Transfer the baking sheets to the refrigerator and chill until the chocolate hardens completely, about 15-20 minutes. Once set, carefully peel off the parchment paper and enjoy your festive treats.
Notes
- Use almond bark instead of baking chocolate for easier melting and a smoother finish if preferred.
- Make sure the chocolate circles are thick enough to hold the decorations without breaking.
- Store the finished bark in an airtight container in the refrigerator to keep it fresh and firm.
- Customize with different colored M&Ms or sprinkles for a personalized holiday look.
- Enjoy this recipe as a fun activity to do with kids over the holidays.
