Ingredients
Scale
Main Ingredients
- 1 pound canned or cooked salmon, drained and flaked
- 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup finely chopped green onions
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 1 large egg, lightly beaten
- 1/4 cup sesame seeds (white or black, or a mix)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil for frying
Instructions
- Mix the Patty Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flaked salmon, panko breadcrumbs, finely chopped green onions, fresh parsley, minced garlic, soy sauce, Dijon mustard, sesame oil, and lightly beaten egg. Mix thoroughly until the mixture holds together well.
- Form the Patties: Shape the mixture into 6 evenly sized patties, making sure they are compact to hold their shape during cooking.
- Coat with Sesame Seeds: Spread the sesame seeds onto a plate. Press each patty into the seeds firmly to coat both sides evenly, creating a crunchy crust.
- Heat the Oil: Heat the olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium heat. Ensure the oil is hot enough before adding the patties to get a perfect sear.
- Cook the Patties: Place the patties in the skillet and cook for 3 to 4 minutes per side. Cook until they are golden brown, crispy on the outside, and heated through inside.
- Drain and Serve: Remove the patties from the skillet and place them on paper towels to drain any excess oil. Serve warm, optionally with lemon wedges, salad greens, or as a sandwich on a bun. For extra flavor, serve with a dipping sauce made from mayo, sriracha, and a dash of lime juice.
