- 1 pound baby potatoes
- 4 cloves garlic, smashed
- 2 tablespoons parsley, chopped
Seasonings and Others
- 2 tablespoons Old Bay seasoning
- 1 tablespoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 lemon, quartered
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
Instructions
- Prepare the boiling water: Fill a large pot about halfway with water and place it on the stove over medium-high heat to warm up.
- Season the water: Add Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper into the warming water, stirring well to dissolve the seasonings evenly.
- Prep the corn: Cut the ears of corn in half and set aside for later addition to the pot.
- Clean the potatoes: Rinse the baby potatoes thoroughly under cold water to clean off any dirt.
- Add potatoes to boil: Once the water reaches a rolling boil, add the baby potatoes to the pot.
- Cook potatoes partially: Let them boil for 10 to 12 minutes until they begin to soften.
- Cut sausage: While potatoes cook, slice smoked sausage into 1-inch pieces and set aside.
- Prepare garlic: Smash garlic cloves with the side of a knife to release flavors and set aside.
- Add corn to boil: When potatoes are nearly cooked, add corn halves to the boiling water.
- Cook potatoes and corn: Boil them together for about 5 minutes until corn becomes tender.
- Add sausage to pot: Stir in sausage pieces and cook all ingredients together for another 5 to 7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add shrimp to pot: Put the shrimp into the pot after the sausage has cooked for a few minutes.
- Cook shrimp: Boil shrimp for 3 to 5 minutes until pink and opaque.
- Melt butter and add parsley: In a separate pan over low heat, melt butter and stir in chopped parsley. Set aside.
- Remove cooked ingredients: Turn off heat, use tongs to transfer shrimp, potatoes, corn, and sausage onto a large serving tray.
- Drizzle butter mixture: Pour the melted parsley butter over the seafood and vegetable spread.
- Add lemon juice and garnish: Squeeze lemon quarters over the dish and place remaining wedges on the tray as garnish.
- Serve and enjoy: Serve immediately while hot for the best taste.
Notes
- Be sure to keep an eye on the shrimp as they cook quickly; overcooking can make them tough.
- You can adjust the amount of Old Bay seasoning to suit your taste preference.
- Serve with additional lemon wedges and cocktail sauce if desired.
- This dish is ideal for communal dining and pairs well with crusty bread or coleslaw.
- Shell-on shrimp adds flavor and keeps shrimp moist during cooking, but you may peel after cooking for easier eating.
