Ingredients
Scale
Pasta
- 8 oz fettuccine or spaghetti
Steak and Sauce
- 12 oz sirloin or ribeye steak
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 3 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
Garnish
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley or basil, chopped
Instructions
- Cook the Pasta: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the fettuccine or spaghetti and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain the pasta and set it aside.
- Sear the Steak: Heat extra virgin olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season the steak liberally with salt and pepper. Place it in the hot skillet and sear each side for 4-5 minutes until a brown crust forms and the steak reaches your preferred doneness.
- Make the Garlic Honey Sauce: Lower the heat to medium-low. Add minced garlic and honey directly to the skillet with the steak. Stir constantly for about 1 minute until the garlic is fragrant and the honey starts to caramelize.
- Add Soy Sauce and Spice: Pour in the low-sodium soy sauce and sprinkle in the red pepper flakes. Let this simmer gently for 2 minutes to meld the flavors and slightly thicken the sauce.
- Combine Pasta and Steak: Slice or cut the steak into bite-sized pieces if preferred. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet and toss thoroughly to coat the noodles with the spiced garlic sauce and steak juices.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove the skillet from heat. Sprinkle freshly chopped parsley or basil over the pasta for a fresh herbal touch before plating and serving immediately.
Notes
- Adjust red pepper flakes according to your preferred spice level.
- Using ribeye will give a richer taste due to marbling; sirloin is leaner but still flavorful.
- Ensure not to overcook the steak to keep it tender.
- Low-sodium soy sauce keeps the salt content moderate, important for healthier eating.
- Fresh herbs like parsley or basil add brightness and a fresh finish to the dish.
