Ingredients
Scale
Protein and Sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 lb ground turkey (lean or extra lean)
- 1/3 cup sweet chili sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 2 to 4 teaspoons Sriracha
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
- 3/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
Vegetables and Grains
- 12 oz broccoli florets, cut into bite-size pieces
- 3 cups cooked brown rice (or rice of your choice)
Garnishes
- Sesame seeds
- Green onions
- Extra Sriracha sauce (optional)
- Extra sweet chili sauce (optional)
Instructions
- Cook the Ground Turkey: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add the olive oil. Add the ground turkey and cook, stirring occasionally, until fully browned and cooked through, about 7-10 minutes.
- Prepare the Sauce: In a glass measuring cup or small bowl, whisk together the sweet chili sauce, honey, Sriracha (starting with 2 teaspoons and adding more to taste), soy sauce, toasted sesame oil, garlic powder, and freshly grated ginger until well combined.
- Cook the Turkey with Sauce: Pour the prepared sauce over the cooked ground turkey in the skillet. Reduce the heat to medium and simmer the mixture, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens slightly and coats the turkey nicely, about 3-5 minutes. Adjust seasoning with salt if needed.
- Steam the Broccoli: While the turkey simmers, steam the broccoli florets until they are just tender but still crisp, about 4-6 minutes, then remove from heat.
- Assemble the Bowls: Divide the cooked brown rice evenly among 4 bowls. Top the rice with the saucy ground turkey mixture and steamed broccoli.
- Garnish: Finish each bowl with a sprinkle of sesame seeds and chopped green onions. Add extra Sriracha or sweet chili sauce on top if desired for more heat or sweetness.
Notes
- Adjust the amount of Sriracha to control the spiciness of the dish to your preference.
- Use lean or extra-lean ground turkey to keep the dish low in fat.
- If you prefer, substitute brown rice with quinoa or cauliflower rice for a different texture or lower carb option.
- You can steam broccoli using a steamer basket, microwave with a little water, or blanch it quickly in boiling water.
- Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
