Description

These Sweet Chili Halloumi Wraps combine crispy, golden halloumi cheese with sautéed bell peppers and onions, fresh salad greens, and a tangy sweet chili sauce all wrapped in soft flour tortillas. Perfect for a quick, flavorful lunch or light dinner, these wraps balance savory, sweet, and fresh flavors with a satisfying texture.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheese

  • 225 g halloumi cheese, sliced

Sauce

  • 2 tablespoons sweet chili sauce

Vegetables & Greens

  • 1 red bell pepper, thinly sliced
  • 1 small red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup mixed salad greens
  • 1 small cucumber, thinly sliced

Wraps & Seasoning

  • 4 large flour tortillas
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Fresh coriander leaves for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Pan: Preheat a non-stick frying pan over medium heat to prepare for cooking the halloumi cheese.
  2. Cook Halloumi: Add the sliced halloumi cheese to the pan and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove the cheese from the pan and set aside.
  3. Sauté Vegetables: Using the same pan, add olive oil and sauté the red bell pepper and red onion over medium heat for 4-5 minutes until they soften and become tender.
  4. Prepare Tortillas: Lay the flour tortillas out on a clean surface and spread half a tablespoon of sweet chili sauce evenly over each tortilla.
  5. Assemble Wraps: Evenly distribute the cooked halloumi, sautéed peppers and onions, salad greens, and cucumber slices onto the center of each tortilla.
  6. Season and Garnish: Season the fillings with salt and pepper to taste. Add fresh coriander leaves if desired for extra flavor and freshness.
  7. Fold and Roll: Fold the sides of each tortilla inward and then roll tightly to form a secure wrap.
  8. Serve: Slice each wrap in half for serving. Enjoy immediately or wrap in foil to take as a packed lunch.

Notes

  • Use firm halloumi cheese for best results and easy grilling.
  • Adjust the amount of sweet chili sauce based on your preferred level of spiciness and sweetness.
  • These wraps can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature.
  • For a gluten-free option, substitute flour tortillas with gluten-free wraps.
  • Adding fresh coriander is optional but adds a nice fresh herbal note.
