- 2 slices Italian bread
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 slices mozzarella cheese
- 2 slices provolone cheese
- 4 slices deli ham
- 4 slices salami
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions
- Butter the Bread: Spread 1 tablespoon of butter evenly on one side of each slice of Italian bread to ensure a crispy, golden exterior when toasted.
- Preheat Skillet: Heat a non-stick skillet or griddle over medium heat to prepare for toasting the sandwich.
- Place First Bread Slice: Place one slice of the buttered bread, butter side down, onto the heated skillet forming the sandwich base.
- Add Mozzarella: Layer 1 slice of mozzarella cheese on top of the bread in the skillet to begin the cheesy filling.
- Add Provolone: Place 1 slice of provolone cheese on top of the mozzarella for extra melt and flavor.
- Layer Ham: Add 2 slices of deli ham over the cheese for savory protein layers.
- Layer Salami: Add 2 slices of salami on top of the ham to enhance the sandwich’s Italian character.
- Prepare Second Bread Slice: Spread 1 tablespoon of mayonnaise evenly on one side and 1 tablespoon of Dijon mustard on the other side of the remaining slice of bread to add tangy flavor and moisture.
- Assemble Sandwich: Place the prepared slice of bread on top of the fillings, mayonnaise side down, to complete the sandwich stack.
- Press Sandwich: Gently press down with a spatula to help the sandwich hold together and promote even toasting.
- Toast First Side: Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bread is golden brown and crispy, allowing the cheese to begin melting.
- Flip Sandwich: Carefully flip the sandwich over using a spatula to toast the other side.
- Toast Second Side: Cook for another 3-4 minutes until golden brown and the cheese has fully melted.
- Remove and Season: Remove the sandwich from the skillet and transfer to a cutting board. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of dried oregano and 1 teaspoon of garlic powder evenly over the top for added aroma and flavor.
- Serve: Cut the sandwich diagonally in half and serve immediately while warm and melty.

- For a spicier version, add sliced pepperoncini or a dash of red pepper flakes inside the sandwich.
