Description

Tuna Melt Bruschetta is a delicious and easy-to-make appetizer featuring crispy buttered baguette slices topped with a creamy tuna mayonnaise mixture and melted mozzarella cheese, finished with a sprinkle of paprika and fresh parsley for a flavorful bite.

Ingredients

Scale

Bread

  • 1 baguette
  • 40g butter (for spreading)

Tuna Mixture

  • 1 can tuna chunks (185g in oil)
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of paprika powder
  • 1 tbsp chopped parsley (optional)

Topping

  • 100g mozzarella cheese (shredded)
  • Parsley (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bread: Slice the baguette diagonally into about 1 inch thick pieces. Spread butter evenly on both sides of each slice. Place the slices on a baking tray and bake at 350°F (170°C) for 15 minutes, flipping halfway through to ensure even toasting and crispiness.
  2. Make the tuna mixture: Drain the can of tuna chunks thoroughly and transfer them to a mixing bowl. Add mayonnaise, paprika powder, salt, black pepper, and if desired, 1 tablespoon of freshly chopped parsley. Stir well until all ingredients are fully combined into a creamy mixture.
  3. Assemble the bruschetta: Spread approximately 1 tablespoon of the prepared tuna mixture evenly over each toasted baguette slice. Then, sprinkle a generous amount of shredded mozzarella cheese on top of the tuna mixture.
  4. Broil the bruschetta: Place the assembled bruschetta under the broiler in your oven and cook until the mozzarella cheese has fully melted and started to bubble, which should take just a few minutes. Be sure to watch closely to prevent burning.
  5. Garnish and serve: Once out of the oven, garnish the bruschetta with additional fresh parsley if desired. Serve immediately as a savory appetizer or snack and enjoy the delicious blend of flavors.

Notes

  • Make sure to drain the tuna well to avoid soggy bread.
  • You can substitute mayonnaise with Greek yogurt for a lighter alternative.
  • Use freshly grated mozzarella for the best melting quality.
  • Keep an eye on the bruschetta while broiling to prevent the cheese from burning.
  • Parsley is optional but adds a fresh touch and color contrast.
