Ingredients

Mixed Nuts
- 2 cups mixed nuts (such as almonds, cashews, pecans, or walnuts)
Seasoning & Coating
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste for heat)
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin
Finishing
- 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice (optional, for a zesty finish)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat for easy cleanup.
- Coat Nuts with Oil: In a large mixing bowl, combine the mixed nuts with olive oil, stirring to coat them evenly.
- Prepare Spice Mix: In a separate small bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, cinnamon, and cumin until well combined.
- Season Nuts: Sprinkle the spice mixture over the nuts and toss until the nuts are evenly coated in the seasoning.
- Arrange for Roasting: Spread the nuts in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet to ensure even roasting.
- Roast Nuts: Roast the nuts in the oven for 15-20 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes to ensure they roast evenly and don’t burn. Watch closely as nuts can burn quickly.
- Cool Nuts: Once the nuts are golden brown and fragrant, remove them from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes to allow the flavors to set.
- Add Lemon Juice (Optional): If desired, drizzle the roasted nuts with fresh lemon juice to add a zesty twist. Serve warm or at room temperature for a fiery, dragon-inspired snack.
