Description

This creamy and decadent White Chocolate Mousse is a simple yet elegant dessert perfect for any occasion. Made with just white chocolate, heavy cream, and optional mini chocolate chips for topping, this mousse is light, fluffy, and irresistibly smooth. It requires minimal prep and offers a delicate sweetness that melts in your mouth.

Ingredients

Scale

White Chocolate Mousse Ingredients

  • 1½ cups heavy cream (341 grams, divided)
  • 12 ounces chopped white chocolate (340 grams)
  • Mini chocolate chips (optional, for topping)

Instructions

  1. Heat the Cream: In a small saucepan, heat ¾ cup of the heavy cream over medium heat until it’s hot and slightly bubbly around the edges, but avoid bringing it to a boil to prevent scalding.
  2. Melt the Chocolate: Remove the saucepan from heat and immediately add the chopped white chocolate. Stir gently until the chocolate melts completely and blends smoothly with the hot cream. Set the mixture aside to cool to room temperature.
  3. Whip Remaining Cream: Using a hand mixer, whip the remaining ¾ cup of heavy cream on high speed until soft peaks form, creating a light and airy texture.
  4. Fold Mixtures Together: Once the chocolate-cream mixture is cooled, gently fold it into the whipped cream using a rubber spatula. Be careful to combine without deflating the whipped cream, ensuring a fluffy mousse texture.
  5. Serve and Garnish: Serve the mousse chilled, garnished with mini chocolate chips if desired, to add a touch of texture and extra chocolate flavor.

Notes

  • Do not bring the cream to a boil when heating as it can cause the chocolate to seize or affect the mousse texture.
  • Be sure the chocolate mixture is completely cool before folding into the whipped cream to prevent melting the cream.
  • For a different flavor, try adding a teaspoon of vanilla extract or a splash of liqueur to the chocolate mixture.
  • This mousse can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
  • Use high-quality white chocolate for the best flavor and smooth texture.
